Doo Dah!

It's Doo Dah time next week!

It's provided by parents for the children at Arlington and occurring on the second last Friday of each term.

It includes a yummy morning tea of homemade cakes and chocolate milk and a filling BBQ lunch of sausage or veggie burger in a bread roll with cheese, onions and salad followed by fruit and a drink of water or juice.

Children are asked to give their teacher $5.00 to cover the cost of food.

Parents, Allona and Judy, are coordinating this event with the help of parent volunteers.

Help is always welcome.

Your Doo Dah Reps

10s & 11s visit to the Senior Campus

A successful evening and many thanks to the:

Year 7 students who volunteered their time and spoke so openly and honestly about their transition from the Arlington Campus and other primary schools to the Senior Campus. This along with their parents in making the evening a success and gently easing the transition of the 10s & 11s to the Senior Campus.

Year 7 coordinators and staff for their informative presentation and discussion on the year ahead and our 10s &11s teachers who were present to support us all.

For parents of the 10s & 11s that would like to have a copy of the 'Transition Process' document please click on my email link alistairr@preshil.vic.edu.au to indicate this and I will forward you a copy.

Winter Solstice

WINTER SOLSTICE
Friday, 22 June, 3.30 - 7.00pm
Arlington Campus

Next Friday!

Preshil is once again having the 'Winter Solstice' event with a great deal of fun and surprises to be had by all.

For the uninitiated, Preshil's Winter Solstice brings all our families and friends together to celebrate and share a meal, chat around an open fire with a glass of wine, listen to music and admire our children in the lantern parade and the disco! This is a whole school event and a perfect opportunity to take time to meet with parents of our children's classmates and teachers. Preshil is part of your children's lives and as a community; we are now part of your family too.

Only 7 days to go, we hope you can make it!

The plan so far:

•3.15- Afternoon tea

•3.15-3.30 Charlotte’s sensational (and small child
friendly) Toy Tent

•3.30-3.45 Arlington Strings and Cello Ensemble

•3.45-5.15 Disco with Mave!

•4.00-6.00 BBQ + Soup

•5.15 for 5.30 Lantern parade

•7.00    Finish

Please remember to bring a mug, spoon and a lantern for your child/ren!

For further information on the food and beverage menus, rosters, boundry and safety information click on this Solstice link to review.

VCE Music Night - Reveiw

VCE Music Night Review – Tuesday May 29

Students in years 11 and 12 presented a fantastic evening of solo and group performances at the recent VCE music night. Around 50 students and parents came and supported the event, being a generous audience, and providing strong positive feedback on all who presented. There was a great diversity of work on display, with many assured and confident performances in evidence. For some students this event was a major step up in performing publicly, for other more seasoned performers this was an opportunity to further refine their performance craft, with a high level of sophistication being shown. A notable aspect of the evening was observing how our students accept and enjoy each others efforts in an occasion like this, and also how they willingly give informed feedback and support to each other.

The new library, as the venue for the first half, really helped set the tone for the success of the evening. Early arrivers made themselves comfortable in a couch with a variety of books whilst the setting up was going on. The cosy atmosphere also meant that a quite extensive first half (over an hour) could be presented and enjoyed fully. Year 12 Music Investigation students added an extra dimension to the evening's proceedings by talking about some of the in depth research they have conducted into the music they have been preparing. For details of the programme please see below.

Thanks go to the fine team of instrumental music staff for their coaching and accompanying of students, and particularly to Phil Bywater and Tim Dargaville for coordinating this event.
