Preshil 2010 e-Bulletin October 22
Dear Family and Friends, |
| |
|
Dear Family and Friends
|
|
A warm welcome to this week's e-bulletin.
In this week's e-bulletin we are trialling the latest delivery process for our NewsDiary. Our third term NewsDiary has been delayed as work has been going on behind the scenes to establish an online, user friendly delivery format for the Preshil community. With our new website coming online and our emailable e-bulletin now available, we are able to offer an integrated package that keeps you abreast of happenings across the school and a run down of what's on. Some of you may notice the similarity with our old NewsDiary format but with the added advantage of being able to more easily search and manage the information available. Over the coming weeks we will bring you up-to-date with our news highlights from last term as well as providing regular news updates as they become available. This information is now accessible in the additional '
NEWS ' section, in the body of the e-bulletin, by clicking on 'News' in the lefthand sidebar. Thanks for your patience! We welcome your feedback so that we can continue to make your information management easier.
Many thanks also to those who have notified us about the few errors that have been discovered on the new website which occurred due to coding errors in the transfer of data from the old website to the new one. Please email us at
communications@preshil.vic.edu.au or telephone us on 9817 6135 if you notice anything that requires our attention. We welcome your assistance.
Please note that there was an error in the term dates published last week. These have now been updated. We apologise for any inconvenience.

The first session went well. Charlotte has provided a short account of the event in our NEWS section. In the next session you will be able to find out how to make a flapping silver-sequinned fish, and or variety of very simple and sweet little felt animals. Marina and Katharine have very kindly offered to show us how!
So please come and join us next Tuesday; remember that if you can’t (or don’t feel like) making something, you are welcome to just sit and eat cake!

Volunteers are urgently needed to do some shelving in Arlington library. If you can help please contact Sue McLean on 9817 6135 or suem@preshil.vic.edu.au
STAYING 'SUNSMART'
Just a reminder that in Terms 1 and 4 each year, Preshil has a ‘No Hat, No Play’ policy because of the high UV levels at these times of year. School policy follows the Sunsmart recommendations regarding suitable hats. Suitable hats should shade the nose and the back of the neck and include the following styles:
Broad brimmed hats that have a brim of at least 7.5 cm
Bucket or 'surfie-style’ hats that have a deep crown and brim of at least 6 cm OR
Legionnaire hats with a flap that covers the neck. The side flap and front peak should meet to protect the side of the face.
You may have seen some of the children around in wide brim bottle green hats. These may be purchased from Karyn in the Arlington Office for the cost of $10.
SHOPPING AT COLES: Until October 31
Our PE teacher at the senior school, Kris Austin, is coordinating the Coles Sports for Schools program for Preshil. Anyone shopping at Coles will receive vouchers for every $10 spent. There are two boxes, one at the Arlington Office and one in the senior school staff room where vouchers can be placed. At the end of the promotion the school can swap these vouchers for sports equipment. We don't expect anyone to go out of their way to support Coles, however if they already do their shopping there we would appreciate the vouchers!
Thanks from Kris
